ON THIS DAY - 11th FEBRUARY

On this day in 2008 Frankel was foaled.  He was trained by Henry Cecil and is named after the American trainer Bobby Frankel.  He was unbeaten after 14 straight wins and retired to stud where his progeny include Logician who won the St Leger in 2016 and Adayar who won the Derby in 2018.

On the same day in 1884 the first meeting was held at Plumpton and the first race was won by Cowslip, which also went on to win another race later that day.
