The Roaring Lion photograph
On this day in 1941 Winston Churchill gave an emotional speech to the Canadian Parliament. Afterwards Yousef Karsh captures him in his famous photograph, "The Roaring Lion".
Roaring Lion was also an American-bred British-trained champion thoroughbred racehorse who was the 2018 European Horse of the Year after winning the Juddemonte International Stakes, Eclipse Stakes, Irish Champion Stakes, and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. In the 2018 World's Best Racehorse Rankings Roaring Lion was rated the best three-year-old in the world and the fourth best horse of any age or sex.
